Questions operators actually ask.

The short version of the operator agreement. Each answer names the clause it comes from, so it can be checked.

Who sets the price?

You do. Tector publishes whatever rate you set — never dictated, adjusted, or negotiated down on your behalf.

Operator Agreement §3.1, §3.4

Can I decline a booking?

Yes, for any reason that fits your roster, your schedule or your judgment, including a safety or conduct concern. Declining carries no penalty and does not change what you are offered next.

Operator Agreement §3.1, §3.6

How and when do I get paid?

Through Stripe Connect, on the payout schedule your connected account is set to once it is verified. The client pays up front; your share remits net of the facilitation fee, and the fee arrives as its own invoice so your books show both figures separately.

Operator Agreement §3.4

What happens if a client cancels?

Your own cancellation terms govern — the ones in the terms of service you uploaded, not a platform-wide policy. Tector may separately charge a client who repeatedly declines or cancels confirmed quotes, so your time is not the thing being wasted.

Terms §1.6, Operator Agreement §3.3

What is the minimum engagement?

Four hours. Every request that reaches you is already at least that long, so a short job is never something you have to turn away.

Terms §1.5

What does Tector NOT do?

Direct, supervise or control how you perform the work. Set or negotiate your price. Choose which of your people goes. Monitor an engagement in progress — Tector is not an emergency service.

Terms §1.1, §1.7, Operator Agreement §3.1

What is non-circumvention, in plain terms?

For a period after Tector introduces a client to you, work continuing from that introduction stays on-platform — you cannot move it off to skip the fee. It does not touch a client you already had before the introduction.

Operator Agreement §3.5

Can I take a booking that crosses a border?

No — licensing is per jurisdiction, so one engagement never crosses one. A cross-border journey is two linked engagements, one per side, each with its own operator, quote and terms, joined by a recorded handover. You are only ever offered work where you are licensed.

Operator Agreement §3.1

Can one person drive and protect on the same booking?

Some jurisdictions licence an individual to hold both, and a firm may offer it — but it is not recommended, it carries reduced capability, and Tector surfaces it with that warning wherever it is offered, to the client as much as to you. A driver at the wheel is not positioned to protect, and protection work assumes someone else is driving. An independent driver holding no agency permit cannot offer protection at all; that one is enforced by a database constraint, not by a form.

Master spec §1.1, Operator Agreement §3.1

What do I learn about a client?

A pseudonym and their stated requirements, until they sign — their legal name goes on the contract and reaches you then. You may not require or condition service on getting it earlier.

Operator Agreement §3.8

What if my licence or insurance lapses?

Anything with a recorded expiry is tracked. On lapse, new bookings pause automatically until you upload a replacement — you find out before it becomes a client-facing problem.

Operator Agreement §3.2
